Posted Sep 24, 2002 by Sea Change I thought I would try some Stilton. My local cheese shop in LA only has Stilton like cake layers, 'iced' or layered in some orange cheese. What is the orange cheese? Am I going to like this?

Posted Sep 27, 2002 by Trout Montague OK done that.
Red Leicester and Double Gloucester are 'orange' cheeses. RL is more orange (as orange as the tool bar in Alabaster) than DG, and is 'flakier'. RL attacks the side of your tongue with its zest.
DG is more mild in colour taste and texture, but still flavoursome. It is almost like an Edam I suppose. Next to a salb of RL, DG looks washed out, like its a fibre glass boat that's been bleached in the sun.
