Toilet doors
Post: 1
Posted Sep 15, 2002 by Wrinkled Rocker (incurable <biker>)
As an architect, I am aways amazed (and irritated steam ) by the lack of knowledge and consideration of my colleagues. When designing a toilet for public use, it is essential that a person with clean hands be able to exit without touching a door handle.

For this reason, all toilet doors must open OUTWARDS towards the passage. I always hear the excuse that this takes up more space, but this argument is without foundation as the door can be set back a little so as not to protrude into the passage. This often creates a better screening of the toilet area from the passage anyway! smiley

Same here, in a brand new science lab building for an international pharmacomp, you'd think they would have more intelligence than to have two inwards opening doors.
