I moved from England to Seattle four years ago and have not been able to show my friends any of the Morecambe and Wise genius because of the mis-matching formats (dvd and video)… I thoroughly enjoyed the article and wanted to say thanks for cheering me up this morning.
I grew up with Eric and Ernie, they were my extended family and welcomed into our home on Christmas Day where we even carried the table from the kitchen into the living room so that we didn’t miss a single second of their show.
I remember so well hearing of Eric’s passing and crying like a baby. I read the biography written by Eric’s son and cherish that book. He was so loved by his family and it’s easy to see why.
A couple of years ago I accidentally bumped into a fellow Brit on a commuter train into Seattle, within minutes she and I were sharing lines like “hello folks what about the workers”, “Luton for the cup”, “What do you think of it so far?”… and even reminisced about the wonderful Mr Memory Man sketch where we were informed that Sir Max Jaffa had founded the London police force after being prompted by Ern that the answer was as “easy as peeling and orange”… the total bemusement of our fellow passengers only made our journey more funny and both of us were exhausted from laughing by the time we got to work.

Have you thought about doing it the other way around?
Try searching the internet for codes to allow your DVD player to play region 2 DVD's - works for me here as my wife is American and we can play all her stuff on all of our machines (DVD and VHS tapes)
