Is it a fixed date festival, or if not, how is the date calculated? When does it actually come to pass?

 Posted Sep 23, 2003 by Researcher 194846 This year (2003) Diwali falls on 25th October. Diwali is a New Year festival in the Hindu Vikrama calendar, where it falls on the night of the new moon in the month of Kartika.
