The site linked to doesn't provide a literal translation of Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau which always annoys me as a literal translation, though not as poetic, is more intense.

I'm sorry, I only gave the Poetic title because I don't speak Welsh and there fore could not give a literal translation.

This link: http://www.madog.org/dysgwyr/caneuon/can05.html is to a literal translation. I happen to think it is a bit too literal. You can be literal and poetic at the same time, but that seems to have escaped most translators.
In particular, I took exception to the translation of "pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad" in the link you supplied. They had "fav'rite land of Wales", whereas it really means "I am faithful to my country". The link supplied above is much better. I thought this was important because the words appear on the "Welsh" One Pound coins: http://www.24carat.co.uk/pleidolwyfimgwlad.html

Thanks, unfortunately I can't edit the page now it's in the Edited Guide. I'll ask the Italics if they'd change it, but I doubt it.

P.S. I used to have a very, very patriotic Welsh music teacher at school called Dafydd Bullock. I'm sure he would set me straight if he saw this. (And also give me a lecture about how useless England are )
