 Posted Aug 18, 2006 by imfirth I have been made aware that when one is quoting long passages of speech it is now customary to re-open inverted commas at the beginning of each paragraph, though without previously closing them.The closure is only made at the end of the entire piece. This is contrary to the usage I was taught. Any comments?
