Isn't hebrew using the same mecanics (putting the meaning of words in the consonants, and their grammatical classification in vowels) ? I had a discussion with a (very) litterate friend a few years ago, whose personal feeling was that sanskrit also had the same approach to link sounds (consonants) and meaning...
Do you know if, like in the hebraic tradition, Arabic links a meaning (often a virtue, or an object, in the case of Hebrew) to each consonant ? Like (from not so recent readings, pardon me if I got it mixed up) /B/ for 'the House', /L/ for 'Law/Rules', etc. ?
