Posted Jul 31, 2002 by DogManStar Yes, I lived with a girl from Nuneaton who introduced me to this fantastic word. Another one to watch is 'hanging', ie ugly or distateful. It was introduced to as a Cornish expression, however a colleague of mine from Oldham assures me that it is widespread in the North.

question- obviously I don't know where you're from but did you think she sounded Brummie? 'cos I get told that all the time (by s'thrn'rs) and it is beginning to grate.

Posted Aug 2, 2002 by DogManStar I'm originally from the Medway Towns, in Kent, but spend a great deal of my childhood in London.
She did sound slightly Brummie to me, but then anybody North of Watford just sounds thick, as far as I'm concerned!
