Posted Feb 15, 2005 by Yvonne aka india: working on my Honours project As well as stalactites hanging from the ceiling and stalagmites growing from the ground, there's also the bit that stalactites hang on "tight" to the ceiling and stalagmites "might" just reach them one day!
This one's designed to be spoken so the inconsistent spelling can be forgiven.

Posted Apr 19, 2007 by Lady Magpye Heh. My mother always taught me that:
"Tights come down, then mites grow up"
Indicating that, yes, stalactites 'grow' downward and stalactites 'grow' up, but also indicating that removal of the hosiery could have certain consequences!
