For anyone who has trouble remembering how many 'c's to use, I learned the following in high school:

Only one 'c' is necessary but you need two to succeed.

For "succeed" I remember a cheer from commercial from long ago...

*S-U-C-C-E-S-S
That's the way you spell success!*

And of course, "succeed" is not all that different from "success". I hear that darn cheer in my head every time I write success....
