Was this an early or later work? This is one of my favourites and I always felt it was a shame she didn't write more books on a medievil theme.I can only think of Beauvallet and the book that was produced after her death which was a much earlier juvenile work the name of which escapes me.She had obviously well researched the period as she did for all her books.I think she would have done the Tudors very well if she had chosen to do so.

Posted Jul 28, 2002 by aGirlCalledBen Hi Incognitas - I didn't recognise you there.
http://www.abfar.co.uk/bibliogs/gh_bib.html has a lot of information on the books, including dates, and information about books which she suppressed which is interesting. The only one of the suppressed books which I have read was definitely below par. And there is a listing here too. http://www.writepage.com/others/heyerg.htm
The Conquerer seems to be an early one - 1931.
All the best
