Posted Jan 14, 2007 by wood_artist I'm aware there is a recording of the premier, and apparently there was film/video made during the performance. Does anyone know if the premier was broadcast, either on radio or television? I'm not looking to find it, just interested in whether someone could have heard it that way.
Thank you.

Posted Apr 3, 2008 by jnewsom I do not know whether it was directly broadcast but it was definitely recorded. It was recorded by the BBC Transcription Service (part of the, then, External Services of BBC) and distributed by disc to contributing partner broadcasters throughout the world.
I was present at the premiere - and recording - at the Coventry Cathedral Festival and later, when back home in the Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC), programmed it on the ABC's Second Network.
Incidentally, Tippett's King Priam also had its premiere at the CC Festival.
