A colleague from the IOM posted this on TTTE.
'Well, as you may know Thomas the Tank Engine was actually filmed over here - and Sodor is something to do with the islands around and about so it is 'Sodor and Man' in kind of medieval history.
Don't want to upset you but we do really exist, Sodor doesn't.
Apparently the vicar who wrote the stories used a bit of poetic licence and stole the name of Sodor. If I find out more I'll let you know.'
I thought it was interesting anyway.
