I WAS A "NEW" MOD BACK IN THE 80's. I STILL LOVE THE MUSIC. THE SCOOTERS, AND THE IDEA OF "WE ARE THE MODS!" QUAD WAS AND STILL IS MY FAV FILM. SO STICK WITH IT

Good to see some new blood coming along. Personally, if you are ever a true mod, it will never leave you, even after all lifes troubles - women, kids, mortgages, even spells in custody -lol At the end of the day all it takes is a tune being played or the unforgetable sound of an italian two stroke buzzing past and you remember who you were, are and always will be - MOD!

Back on the scooter scene after too many years diversion with families etc it's good to rekindle the brotherhood of yesterdays gone. The best thing to happen a couple of weeks ago was two 16 year olds turning up at our wednesday night meet and ride out, astride 50cc scoots - memories for all of us of when we were exactly the same all those years ago.
So, did we patiently wait for them as the tootled along on their restricted style-mobiles? - Course not! we left them in a blue two stroke cloud as we raced each other to the pub as usual - they caught us up eventually and have turned up each week for more of the same. They will, like us wait patiently for 17 to come along and dump the 50's for better things - then will come rallys and real all weekend mayhem!
Welcome to the scene whatever your age - its the best brotherhood to be part of - Keep the faith and Ride safe

Hi

Nice to see this site. I was a Mod in 1978-1982, though sadly knew very few in my area and was not old enough to ride a scooter (13 in 1978). In 1981 I left school and then straight into work. From then on had very little time for anything connected with the MOD scene. However I'm now almost 42 years old have been married for over 21 years and will be getting my first Vespa Scooter in December 2006 (1967 VLB VESPA, fully restored). So if you're like me you think those days are over, just think again for those days are just begining for me! My wife and youngest son, who 13 by the way, have just brought their first Mod parkers and are becoming Mods too.

We live in Scotland, just across the border from Carlisle, and hope to start a Mod Scooter group in 2007 in Dumfriesshire. It will be unashameably a Mod group, Fully MODified scooter, mirrors, lights, flags, parkers, suit ties etc, though of course no Drugs, drink (well not too much, drink that is. And of course the group will have to find a local cafe to call our own.

Look to the future, our has just begun! Lifes too short to do what everyone expects you to do. Well Done VespaDoc, keep the faith!

Cheers.

It was pleasing to read your views on how you feel about mods at your age, but i have a son who is 13 and he loves the whole mod thing which for me is great because i was a mod in the 80's and still love the whole way of life which is why my son is showing such and interest. He was brought up constantly listening to weller and the Jam with some Who and the Small faces thrown in for a bit nostalgia, plus some modern bands like Ocean Colour Scene, The Rifles etc the only area he has not tested out yet has been the clothing but its slowly coming with the odd t-shirt, target pin badge and has requested a parka for this coming winter and has confirmed that he will have a Lambretta when he is 17. He constantly searches web sites for pictures of mods and Mod related themes. To be honest, as his dad @ 39 i love it because it's keeping my dreams and love for the scene going in our house. Enjoy, its worth every minute and will always be with you once you understand. Please try to keep an open mind as people will always want to tell you how it was but if you can read some of the individual stories posted on this web site to get a better overall knowledge of the way of life then it will make more sense.

Take Care

I Just Got Into The Mod Scene! I Am 16, And Planning To Get A Scooter (But Not Everything Goes To Plan). I Have One Friend Who...Isn't Exactly A Mod...But As Close To One As I Am Going To Get For Now! I Come From A Pretty Much Mod Dominated Family, Which May Explain Why I Am Into It So Much, And Was Brought Up On The Jam, Secret Affair, Paul Weller And Northen Soul!

I Think There Is Potential For The Mod Scene Getting Big Again, But Not For A Few Years Yet =(

I am a 16 (17 in February) Year-old mod from the West Midlands, and as a member of the current Mod Revival, I can say that there are definitely Mods around again. In fact, I am the moderator of a constantly growing Mod group on Bebo with, at a last count, 680 members, a majority of which are young blood to the scene. If you are interested in seeing this group, the link is: www.bebo.com/themodernworld2008
I own a Vespa PX 125, and I am planning to be riding it some time in the New Year. All the revival needs now is a few good quality groups and artists to get noticed, and the rest will follow. Until then, Keep The Faith everybody.
