Which have you ever used or heard in RL?

I've used Salmon Day (once) and PHB. I've heard Cube Farm and Mushroom Management used. And I've both used and heard 'go postal'. That last one, at least, seems to be in dictionary: dictionary.com has it as slang for "To become extremely angry or deranged, especially in an outburst of violence."

What about everyone else?

I think I've heard 'blamestorming' and 'cube farm'. I've heard and used BSOD, 'three finger salute', 'yuppie foodstamps', and 'going postal'. With my computer, we use BSOD and three finger salute a lot. I've seldom heard yuppie foodstamps used, and going postal unfortunately doesn't mean much over here (Ireland). Doesn't stop us from using it.

At work we often have to dial in to meetings in the US. Since we spend much of the time with the phone on mute, games of buzzword bingo are not unheard of and provide a mildly entertaining way of passing the time. Cards consist of phrases like "touch base", "dead horse", "action item" etc.

I've heard the word ohnosecond applied to email and defined as the time between pressing the send button and regretting it.

Blamestorming (and blamethrower) are favourites at work; 404 is used as are BRB (frequently) and BSOD (until we complete our Linux rollout). PUBKAC and TFQ make the occasional appearance, and three-fingered salute is a perennial.

Ones I use enough for them to be front-of-brain:

BSOD, PEBKAC, Three Fingered Salute, BRB, Betamaxed, blamestorming (and blamethrower), Idea Hamster, LART, TFQ (which I claim to ave invented in that I used it before anyone else said it to me), and treeware.

New one: Drive-by management biggrin
