Life and death

The only time footballs a matter of life and death is if you're unfortunate enough to walk into the wrong pub wearing the wrong shirt. Then you'll be lucky if you only get crippled instead of killed. Then again I'm from England (take a look around, england IS hell) so I have more reason to distrust football fans than people from most other nationalities.

Hi

To quote Liverpools late manager Bill Shankly "football is is not a matter of life or death, its much more important than that"

To say football is political in South America is very true, but believe me it is just as political in Liverpool. The city council are just about to spend a fotune on a new ground for Everton situated in the Docklands. I have to say the quickest way any Liverpool City Council could lose an election would be to suggest taking any adverse action against The Teams, whilst it is true there are a hooligan element amongst all supporters ,Liverpools are not to my knowledge as bad as the article would suggest they might be, cant speak for the southern supporters.

England today is a far from perfect place, but so are many European countries, I was in the Netherland during a match and it was hell on earth. Perhaps while our goverments condone violence as a means to an end it is naive to expect the citizens to not to react in a similar way.

By the way I support Man Utd!!!!!!

Stay Safe PeterK.

Personally I am happy to be in England. Holland is the country where football 'fans' arrange fights in car parks by mobile phone and I NEVER want to encounter the fans of another Turkish team ever again sadface and that is just in Europe!

Well despite what Lou says, I haven't ever been in a life threatening situation watching football in England ... and I'm Welsh.

It's just another popular misconception that football hooliganism is as rampant as it was in the 70s and that ALL football fans are thugs.
