Posted Jun 2, 2006 by uge101 Just as an interesting add-on, I've been studying Japanese and their days of the week are as follows: SUNDAY - nichi-yobi = literally "sun"-day MONDAY - getsu-yobi = "moon"-day TUESDAY - ka-yobi = "fire"-day WEDNESDAY - sui-yobi = "water"-day THURSDAY - moku-yobi = "wood"-day FRIDAY - kin-yobi = "gold"-day (payday?!) SATURDAY - do-yobi = "earth"-day (Also, the Kanji character for Saturday is used in the Kanji name for the planet Saturn. Whether these names were in use during the Shogun era, when Japan was closed to foreigners, or whether they were adopted since the 1860's, my Japanese tutor didn't know.)
