Posted Dec 18, 2002 by Researcher 212117 I want to correct the footnote on the article about UB Iwerks. His name was not pronounced "Ub, like sub or club" but like the letters U and B. His name was shortened at the request of Disney from the Dutch Root Ubbe, his given name. UB was my uncle, my dads brother. I visited his home many times as a young boy, and can say he was a cool old guy. I live in Kansas City now, where the whole thing started.

Posted Dec 22, 2002 by Stephen P. Thanks for the correction. I don't remember where I got the wrong pronunciation, but I'll certainly take your word that it was wrong! I enjoy watching old cartoons, especially some of the more obscure ones, and the Iwerks studio has long been one of my favorites. After this, I'll just have to go and watch a Flip the Frog cartoon.
