Another method for detecting lies (I didn't see it already stated, sorry if I'm just being blind) is where a person looks when they are speaking: If a person looks to the right when asked a question, it is thought to indicate 'remembering', and looking ot the left is indicative of 'inventing' or lying.

It depends on whether they are left or right brained. It also varies depending on how they're processing information. I think we've discussed Neuro-Linguistic Programming around here somewhere.

True, my comment was only intended as a general idea. I think I heard that the left/right brained thing was a bit like left/ right handed- the majority of people tend to be biased towards either the left or right side (can't remember which), just like 'most' people are right- handed. Aren't the two connected anyway? I may have made that up, but I can never be sure.

Herewith a long established professional tecnique of lie detection.
Simply have a few easy questions ready, but include one that you already have the correct answer too,

The information that a realistic liar, goes over a story as a script to be improved upon until it is word perfect is also sound. Talking out of school, many a good copper uses the same method to give evidence in Court, after all who can remember a script for months on end now that it takes so long to reach a conclusion to a court case.

But the method is easily spotted by the speed and ease with which it is recited, quite often this person will eventually fail to realise that the script is not identical to a similar statement issued a few days earlier, but a good copper does notice.

A conn artist is also easy to spot by the same type of swift delivery, this confuses the set up mark and they do not realise that they have been conned until it is too late.

A good subject here, perhaps the hand of a professional is showing a bit here, nice one.

Cheers H.magic
