It sounds a wonderful recipe and you have certainly taught me that for crisp picckled onions all the liquids must be cold. I never knew that!. 'Bye AR1

I've just noticed that the word 'wine' is missing from the 'red' and 'white' variations suggested!
Curiously, if you search the BBc database, this recipe and the associated threads crops up many times - as does the h2g2 article on flatulence!

I wonder why?
