Posted Jan 3, 2002 by MaW No, I had home-made pickled onions once. Beat a shop-bought jar so far out of the picture you might as well forget about it.
Yum.

Posted Jan 3, 2002 by Livzy Wow! "I had home made ickled onions once.." My, my - the life you lead, MaW.....
tell you what, you bring some of your lovely home made picklies to the meet on Jan 26 and I'll pop out and get a selection of shop bought varieties and we'll have a grand "Pickled Onion Eat Off"

Posted Jan 3, 2002 by Frogbit's last day on H2G2...Bye! Home-made are best. A *really* good shop-bought jar may do as a stand in, but for awsome pickled onions, do it yourself. (Or better still, have a close relation do it for you). 'Pickled onion *eat* off'? What's the game after called?

Posted Jan 3, 2002 by Shazz PRME(emeritus) I certainly will try... if I can smuggle them through customs! Not sure about the rules on flying combustible pickled onions over by air!

Posted Jan 3, 2002 by Livzy just drop a few into a condom and swallow...you'll find they are still fresh on arrival...alledgedly...

I'd rather not thank you! I always seem to be the one who sets the alarms off and gets searched anyway!

Posted Jan 3, 2002 by Livzy ..I've never heard of pickled onions seting alarms off...unless they are the extra sweet silverskin ones of course....

Posted Jan 3, 2002 by Abi I don't think it is the pickled onions that make Shazz set off the alarms, I think it is more likely to be her Kalashnikov.

Posted Jan 3, 2002 by MaW They do if you eat really strong ones and then breath on a flammable gas detector...

Posted Jan 3, 2002 by jwordsmith you said: 'Go To Shop'
Easier said than done in the US. Impossible to find a decent store-bought pickled onion, unless you go to a grossly-overpriced British imports shop.
Thanks for the recipe!
