Posted 5 Weeks Ago by Bright Blue Shorts Series 3 is showing on UK TV now. First two-part story - Prisoner of the Judoon.
I'd forgotten but David Tennant is due to appear at some stage!

Posted 5 Weeks Ago by Bright Blue Shorts Was impressed by Elisabeth Sladen's performance in second episode of the Judoon story. Not her usual type of role.

Posted 5 Weeks Ago by RadoxTheGreen - (On Opera 10 TURBO!) not caring what BBC message board this is as long as h2g2 remains AWESOME!! So, the tin pooch is back. I wondered how long they would leave him in the black hole.
Oh, and of course... too.

Posted 4 Weeks Ago by Bright Blue Shorts Just watched both episodes of "Mad Woman in Attic" ... didn't think the story was as strong as it looked like could be ... but the production values of this are just incredible.
The quality of children's TV like this just blows me away. If you ever want to see a good argument for the TV license fee, I think this is one of them. I don't believe commercial TV would come up to this standard.

Posted 4 Weeks Ago by van-smeiter I knew the Doctor would be in it today (Thursday) but I'd thought to catch up on iplayer. However, I was having a break at just the right time so I managed to watch it. Every time I heard the I got a tingle down my spine. Can't wait for tomorrow's episode which will be "Doctor heavy"
SJA is brilliant children's tv

Posted 4 Weeks Ago by Bright Blue Shorts 2nd part of the wedding story ... bit too chatty for my liking ... pretty certain I'd have been bored off my feet as a kid ... nonetheless another good performance by Liz Sladen ...

Posted 4 Weeks Ago by RadoxTheGreen - (On Opera 10 TURBO!) not caring what BBC message board this is as long as h2g2 remains AWESOME!! I'd forgotten how much DTs muttering got on my nerves. Had to rewatch with the subtitles on to find out what he'd said (not for the first time). Yes, I know, I'm getting old...

Posted 4 Weeks Ago by Bright Blue Shorts As I say, didn't much enjoy the 2nd part as a story; but I like the way RTD(?) is exploring Sarah's character. This one seems to be about why she stayed single and how difficult all the explaining would have been to a potential suitor.

Posted 3 Weeks Ago by huzzah4knolly Ok..the football rattle that he pulled out of his pocket. Was that a old Tom Baker incarnation ref?
Must admit I enjoyed both episodes and the portents leading to Tennets last few episodes....will I see you again etc...

Posted 3 Weeks Ago by 3Dots The wedding story wasn't bad at all. Good to see death, self-sacrifice and loss in it. Good old fashioned production values etc.
I did like Clyde saying, after seeing SJ and Peter kiss that no-one over 22 should be see doing that in public. The actor who plays Clyde is 22years old - nice little in-joke.

Posted 3 Weeks Ago by Bright Blue Shorts I went to the cinema last night ... to see "UP" ... there was a trailer for SJA ...

Posted 3 Weeks Ago by 3Dots The BBC seem to spend more time and creative effort on trailers than they do programmes these days.

Posted 3 Weeks Ago by Galigan I disagree with that actually, I'm being impressed with Merlin at the moment and I've just watched the wedding 2 parter of SJAs and even though it's aimed at kids it was rather brilliant, felt like a full Dr Who episode rather than a kids tv one. It's certainly tiding me over nicely until the next full Dr Who special is on tv.
Did anyone spot when the Doctor said what is reported to be his final line? It's been in the papers recently, the last line DT says as the Doctor, and it was slipped into the 2 parter rather well. And yes, the stuff about 'will I see you again?' was very poignant. Very much enjoyed that 2 parter.

Posted 3 Weeks Ago by HonestIago: SIWOTI syndrome sufferer. I was thinking that: perhaps would have been better to change the running order.
Another good, solid episode though and, has been said, the production values are superb. And the episode was effectively creepy.

Posted 2 Weeks Ago by Bright Blue Shorts My 8-year-old was bricking it during the first past. Only other DW story that bothered her was Doctor Dances/Empty Child ... muuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeee
Is there a bit of series arc going on? When the irritating scientist boy was introduced, Floella said he came from The Pharos Institute. That sounds familiar, anyone recognise it? Could his father turn out to be someone we've met previously?
Also Floella's character is called Professor Rivers. Seems a bit close to Riversong although I don't see the connection.

Posted 2 Weeks Ago by sigsfried The Pharos Institute has been in previous S-J Adventures, the Clown episode I believe is an example. Similarly I am sure we had seen Professor Rivers in that role before (maybe even that Clown episode). I got the feeling the Pharos Insitute was the the generic friendly scientific establishment and Prof. Rivers was the generic friendly scientist.

Posted 2 Weeks Ago by Bright Blue Shorts You're right. I looked it up and the P.I. was in a couple of episodes previously along with Floella! She's looking good for someone whom I remember watching present Play School in the 70s ...
