 Posted Dec 20, 2002 by Gilgamesh of Uruk A couple of very minor cavils: Firstly, to be pedantic, only poultry breeds such as Sebrights etc. which have no full-size equivalent should be described as bantams (IIRC Bantam was the old capital of Java). In breeds such as Rhode Island Reds etc, the smaller forms should be called miniatures.
Secondly, although a mule can be the offspring of a jackass and a mare, the term is used loosely to include the hinny - stallion crossed with a jenny.
