I don't think I have a tray large enough to roast it in, though--nor a big enough oven, for that matter. Plus, I'm never going to have enough stuffing for it unless I buy out the Whole Foods Market down the street. sadface

biggrin

have some roast turkey instead, paul - well, leftovers by now, i guess

since we do not celebrate thanksgiving over here we are instead looking forward to christmas dinner on 24. december

my guess is we'll have roast pork and roast duck followed by the traditional risalamande (cold rice porridge mixed with whipped cream, chopped almonds and sugar)

I love the sound of that pudding - except for you calling it cold rice 'porridge'.

In fact I must go and find some supper. smooch

ah, sorry about that

it has become a tradition here to cook rice in milk, season it with a little salt and serve it with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top for dinner 23. december. it is also tradition to serve it with a dollop of butter by the way

the leftovers are then used for the cold pudding (mixed with chopped almonds and whipped cream and sugar and covered with a hot cherry sauce) as dessert on 24. december, which is the time we celebrate xmas around here

furthermore: there has to be a whole almond hidden in this 'risalamande' on 24. december - and whoever gets it is entitled to an 'almond-gift ' which is usually some kind of sweet shared with the rest of the family or whoever is present

That sounds a lot like the rice pudding that they serve in Indian restaurants around the Boston area.

that sounds and looks intriguing bigeyes

i immediately downloaded the recipe and will try it one of these days ok

so thanks for that, lanzababy smooch

i usually cook apples slowly and mix them with sugar syrup (sugar heated slowly until it melts) and chopped almonds. no water added (except the water that is still on the apples after rinsing them) but a spoonful or two of truffle oil is good if you can get it. olive oil will do nicely. maybe i should try some thyme seasoned olive oil one day?

served with cold vanilla ice cream this is a divine dessert drool

Truffle oil? Do I need the GNP of a small nation to afford just one bottle of it? huh

not as long as you are a pirate ok

pirate

ps: i just read the labels on the two different bottles of truffle oil that are in my possession at the moment. both of them contain extra virgin oil and an extract (?) of white truffles. one contains 0.1 percent truffle so shouldn't be too expensive. it doesn't say how much extract/koncentrated truffle there is in the other geek
