| Posted 4 Weeks Ago by Paul H . If you think I look old, you should see my father This was a very vivid dream, set on a gently rounded hill where a summer resort has been in operation for a very long time. There's an officious woman (who later turns out not to be the owner, but rather a longstanding member of the kitchen staff) who tells the teenage workers what to do. The kitchen is fairly large, with signs of wear everywhere. The veneer on the counter tops has been worn down in a few places. The plumbing seems to be holding on so far, but who knows what weak spots lurk below the sink? Still, there is something comforting about being in a place that has such a lot of history, and has probably been the scene of some very good times.
It's hard to tell how many summer guests there are, but maybe the season is mostly over anyway? A few people go out on the lawn to sun themselves on the benches and enjoy the view of the nearby town. What makes the place less than desirable is the large number of rotting carcasses of large animals (probably cows) that have been deposited at random across the landscape. Some of the picnic tables are off-limits for use because the carcasses are perched on top of them.
At the end of the dream, I have gone into town on some errand, and when I come back, I can't drive up the hill until a long funeral procession goes up. Perhaps the owner of the resort has died?

Posted 4 Weeks Ago by Pierce The Pirate (visit my ship at A579684), thingite key bearer hmmm, this brings back memories
they may not be related to your dream at all, but still
when i was so little i now cannot remember how little i actually was my family used to spent summer holidays with other families in a smallish kind of summer resort
when i revisited the place many years later with my own kids i was not sure where i was until the third time - and after that i wondered why i had not recognized it the first two times i revisited it
last night i dreamed i should by a second lottery ticket because the one i already have is no good
i will never know
but what are we if not dreamers?

Posted 4 Weeks Ago by Paul H . If you think I look old, you should see my father Yes, that's definitely possibly. They very likely symbolize the after-effects of someone's death. You can't blot out the death of someone you cared about...

Posted 4 Weeks Ago by AlsoRan80 hi Paul H,
Thank you for saying you would be patient with me!.
I am pleased that I do not remember my dreams - I would be really upset if I dreamt about carcasses of beef. !!
I think that now I have a bit of a different sleep pattern. When I wake up plus or minus 1-2 a.m. the two radio stations which I can get onto easily are Radio 4 and 5. I wander between the two and sometimes I think that I am listening and perhaps I am thinking of something nice about what I have been listenint to. I generally get up at about 5 and make a cup of tea for K if he is awake. and sometimes he spoils me and brings me in a cup of tea which I love.
Go well.

Christiane, do you find that you need less sleep than you used to?

Posted 4 Weeks Ago by AlsoRan80 Hi Paul H,
Until about five years ago I could very easily manage on five hours o sleep in 24. That was throughout my my career, when doing my swimming training and later when I was studying for my various academic interests.
I think that now I probably need a couple of extra hours i.e about seven hours out of the 24.
But the point of this sleep pattern is that I never remember my dreams. Yet the experts say that every one dreams. When I wake up around 2 or 3 a.m. I lie and think all sorts of nice and happy things. Remember events that happened when I was a child, or when my children were growing up. I really must put a pen and paper next to my reclining chair, as I now find that I am now beginning to forget what I thought about. !! Botheration. !1
You are a great raconteur of your dreams.
Go well,

If you know of a way to influence the kind of dreams a person has, let me know about it. I take whatever dreams I get, with no hope of altering their nature.

Thank you. <bows> I record my dreams here because they may contain some good material for stories I'd like to write.

Paul, when my son and daughter were young, after their first nightmares, I told them that if a nightmare appeared "Animal"(The Muppets and my nickname persona) would also so appear and rip it's head off as Animal hated them, they never had another nightmare I planted a positive seed

Thanks for our friendship just in case we do not come in contact again. !!And good luck with your writing.

Posted 3 Weeks Ago by Pierce The Pirate (visit my ship at A579684), thingite key bearer i sometimes have nightmares because i sleep in an awkward position that makes it difficult to breathe or gives me cramps or something like that. other than that i don't have problems. and as soon as i wake up and realize it was only a dream i relax and go back to sleep
i don't know, but maybe the scary stuff i have encountered in real life has put nightmares in their proper perspective
