The OED is a great book. I know its superiority as a reference is indisputable, but even as reading material it is quite enjoyable. How many books go on for three pages or so about the letter A? That was a rhetorical question. Anyway, I am planning to read that thing cover to cover sometime, and then boy, will I be a conversationalist. Come on, it's good stuff...

i read it once, not much of a plot. but at least it explained every word as it went along.
