Posted May 24, 2001 by Pete, never to have a time-specific nick again (Keeper of Disambiguating Semicolons) - Born in the Year of the Lab Rat I've seen lots of reproductions of posters featuring a booted foot pushing down on a spade, above the slogan "Dig for Victory!". I presume that was to do with saving rations. There are also Giles cartoons of a cabbage patch on top of an Anderson shelter, which I hear was quite common.
(Input from anyone who knows better is encouraged. I didn't do the actual war in my history GCSE, only the causes and consequences...)
