Go back through the New York lesson, but, read only the translations while pinching your nostrils shut. Thus achieving our unique nasally tone caused by too much winter and deveated septums.

If you get all of Long Island to pinch their nostrils while talking we can declare it part of Michigan and annex it. Of course we would have to connect it to the mainland because we only have peninsulas here!

And if you pinched shut the nostrils of Long Islanders, we'd all drop from asphyxiation. We don't shut up long enough to take a breath ...

Wow! Bonus points for using asphyxiation. You wouldn't make it here in Michigan after all (too smart for us). We would have said "cannd bread wid my node plugged"
Though you might fill all your extra time, from not waiting on bridges, by swatting at the gazillion mosquittos.  It's our state pastime. (Maybe I should write a better Guide entry for Michigan, the existing one is lame).

They've started spraying again for the stupid mosquitoes. We have the big West Nile Virus scare going strong again this year.

I've had a Long Island Ice Tea scare before. It involves the room spinning, a vicious headache...
