Posted Mar 21, 2001 by Bright Blue Shorts I seem to remember in Peer Review making a number of suggestions for other hoaxes that I've seen; as did a number of other people. However none of them seem to have been included in the article, why not?

Posted Mar 21, 2001 by Monsignore Pizzafunghi Bosselese And not only that, there's another entry (Great April Fool's Jokes and Tricks, the search page says it's recommended) at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A517240. Ummm! Two entries about the same topic, and they should be merged, I think.

Hey Guys - we are keeping the entries separate because:
One entry (this one) is about the history of April Fool's and famous tricks.
The other is a great community collborative entry on how to create your own tricks.
Hope that helps

Posted Mar 28, 2001 by Bright Blue Shorts I'll go back to my point. I made a number of suggestions in Peer Review for hoaxes I had seen e.g. the Lirpa Loof on That's Life; the Daily Mail's painting Rhino's purple and photo's of ostriches with their heads in the ground; the great "everybody jump while we pull Britain back into place via tugboats"; the Radio 1 - 25% of records must have foreign lyrics to become more European. I beleive there were other examples from other people, but the PR discussion for this appears to have dropped off the server!
Also no mention is made in the article of how newspapers/magazines often use anagrams of April Fool to tip their readers off.
The "Charlie Chaplin coming third" example is entirely irrelevant to the entry as it was nothing to do with April Fools Day (or is that just the catch for this article).

Posted Mar 28, 2001 by Monsignore Pizzafunghi Bosselese And there was the hoax about a renowned composers forgotten /Messe/ (sanctus?) which was 'found' and performed for the first time.
It's all in the lost PR thread, which /ought/ to be back by friday!

Bossel
As you know, each thread has to wait its turn - it's outta my hands but I am assured that it will return from the void in due course.
When activated, it will make an excellent candidate for updating.
