Posted Jun 6, 2003 by Richenda Yeah, I'm here for awhile. Mostly dealing with the folks over at the h2g2 Survivors Group and a little bit here and there.

But in my own defense, the posts I've seen of Richenda's haven't been that long

Posted Jun 6, 2003 by Barton I'm sorry to have made you wonder. Yes, she is my wife and, yesterday, she was typing the words I was speaking as she was involved in a three way instant message and I just wanted to let you know that I had seen your posting.
And, by the way, thanks for having noticed that things had changed here.
(Always awkward with a babyish lady, but well worth the effort.)

I'd say that if you want to keep up with PaperBaby, you could wander over to U211555, but you've already seen all the journals elsewhere (Though with the cases all switched around, which at times can be brain-twisting) Of course, for all I know, you've lurked there already...

Posted Jul 29, 2003 by Barton That festival has been on my list of want-to's for some time now. I have some other friends in the Denver area as well and that would be a perfect excuse to come pester them.
Unfortunately those dates are directly in conflict with the Bristol Faire so I am not able to make both.
Still, there will undoubtedly come a time when I choose to take a season off here for precisely that reason.
Of course, I might just decide to visit that area again for no other reason than to see my friends. I've been known to do such wild and foolish things in the past and being foolish is not a bad thing.

Posted Jul 29, 2003 by Richenda Hi Abbi,
Nothing historical involved. Many of the performers and crafters go from show to show. Bristol orignally went for only 8 weekends. It is only within the past ten years or so that we added a 9th weekend. The last two weekends we compete with at least two or three other major faires and the entertainment at ours suffers.
Renaissance faires are held almost year round. The southern faires in the colder months and the northern faires in the warmer months.
Some of our performer and crafter friends have no permanent residences. They simply follow the faires.
The only "historical' connection is Elizabeth 1 actally did visit the real Bristol in 1572 or thereabouts. Our faire is set in 1574.

Posted Jul 29, 2003 by *abbi normal - "Putting on the Ritz" with Dr Frankenstein There are a fair amount of nomadic peoples in the US. It could be fun to write about the many types. That is something I have never seen in the census reports!
Many of the seniors in their RVs the Flea Market folks that move almost constantly, These faire people, the circus and carnies, the food harvestors. That is not even including the more commonly thought of homeless. It would be interesting to know how many people have that lifestyle. Some are not so admirable; the travelors groups in the US that scams folks with home repair. That is something I have never seen in the census reports!
