<<I haven't got an email from the eds about it>>
<<I am very annoyed that it has been left (I don't know how long for) with the message saying that all I have to do is a simple edit to fix it.>> who was the message from then?erm

<<but as a scout / sub when I wrote it, when it got PRed, when it scout scouted, when the eds accepted it, when it got subbed and when it was put on the front page, nobody had a problem.

It must have been up for a fairly long time, and also down for a fairly long time. That it has now been deemed unsuitable is a slight on the whole PR process>>

2cents With all due respect, Jon, you should be querying about this in EF, not in PR. We (peers) don't know what's wrong with your Entry, the info could be incorrect, or someone could have taken offence at something you've written, or it could be a little too close to the source for comfort, and that's why it's hidden. We don't know what the problem is, nor why it passed umpteen eyes before hitting the FP with a problem, as it may only just have come to light (or been complained about). We Curators have known entries full of spelling errors hit the FP, but we don't go spouting about it in the wrong place. You're an old hand here, respected by your peers, so please don't spoil that when there are newbies around who can see your posts. Thanks Jontowel

PS: Lanzababy, the moderation bug has not hit any Edited Guide Entries to my knowledge, and I'd know because they'd discuss it with us in the Curator forumok

added some changes, killed off a few paragraphs and tried to split up the sections

A great improvement Jon smiley , it is a much more approachable read now.

A few typos:

the {Mericans} ruled areas north of the river. >>>>[Mercians]

manmade >>>>man-made

overlooked by high {urbainised ground} on either side

>>>urbanised

...makes a brief visit south of the M60 as it passes through the village of Northenden, {were} the river passes over a great weir before

>>>>[where]

'Two Pints of Larger and A Packet of Crisps'

needs to be italiscised and {larger} needs to be [lager]

I'll have another look later in case there are some other amendments I can see but online2long at the moment ok

<<'Two Pints of Larger and A Packet of Crisps' needs to be italiscised and {larger} needs to be [lager]>>

Isn't that a song title? If so, then it doesn't need to be italicisedok

'Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps' (song/track or TV episode title)
Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps (book or film or album title)

ok

thanks GB ok - I thought he meant the TV series, but I am glad to know that song titles don't need italics. So, TV series don't need italics either?

-still learning the ropes. biggrin

If he meant the TV series, then yes, that does need to be in italics.

Episodes within a series, like Friends' 'The one where Ross has a dream' would need to be in single quotes, with Friends italicised.

ok
