Entry-Writing Bug?

I'm trying to write an entry, and get an odd problem.

I'm attempting to link to this site:

http://content.cdlib.org/view?docId=tf367nb34j&link.id=dsccl&brand=oac

And have had to write it as:

http://content.cdlib.org/view?docId=tf367nb34j&link.id=dsccl&brand=oac

because it won't accept the ampersand.

Now it keeps telling me there's an illegal use of the ampersand earlier in the url if I hit "update", unless I mark "Plain Text" (but not change to...". Then it updates the Entry, in GuideML, but a large chunk of text fails to appear, consisting of several paragraphs around that link huh
