- the former Astronomer Royal, just gave a talk at my local astronomy society, so I went along. His subject was Astronomers Royal through the Ages, with a slideshow of photographs, with added off-topic chat about various Government officials he's had dealings with over the years. Amazingly it's 9 years since I last attended one of the monthly meetings, but a few people remembered me and the guest speaker was very interesting.

That sounds great - are you hoping to make this a monthly outing?

Yep. My daughter is nagging me to get out more. Apparently it's how you meet people, and how lonely people find partners.

Well done - you were just saying on Ben's thread that you ought to find someone with similar interests ... what better place to look!

Would the collective noun for a group of astronomers be a constellation?

And if two got together, would it be a binary?

DEar Granny Weatherwax,,

I have been reading about you for ages but have never met you.

I hope you are keeping well. You say you are fed up with the hospital staff. Have you been ill? I hope not.

I have been busy most of today and now it is taking it's toll. I hope to be able to have an opportunity to talk to you again.

With best wishes,

Christiane

from the Uni of Nottingham, school of physics and astronomy, is going to be giving the talk tonight at the monthly meeting of the CDAS. I'm very excited as the talk is entitled "The Centre of our Galaxy"biggrin

I watched Horizon last night, which was about black holes, so if he asks any questions I should be able to stick my hand upwinkeye
