My mum's friend (when she was a teenager) offered her some durian. My mum wanted to be polite, so she ate a piece despite the fact that it smelled like cat urine to her. Her eyes started to water uncontrollably, and moments later she threw up in their sink. She said the smell will stay with her long after she dies.
