Q if you can get a chance to listen to any of the artists listed, go for it. I managed to find Memphis Minnies version of When The Levee Breaks and listening to that and then the Led Zep version brings it home how simple a style blues really is. Fantastic.

Thanks to all of you... positive feedback is the best inspiration to keep doing this, maybe I'll update this with info on some more semi-obscure blues artists if anyone's interested. Thanks again!

Hard to believe I've not heard these guys music (knowing the names and hearing the music is a very different thing).
Another one for you Q then would be Bert Jansch. I was talking with a friend about this guitar player. He was commenting on how much a copy of BJ's stuff soem of the Jimmy Page stuff is...
