Posted Sep 16, 2002 by jaz'd(ace & yada yada *sigh* chocolate yada) Very well written Bluesdog! I consider myself lucky indeed to have seen Muddy Waters, about a year before he died. Also saw Buddy Guy, just last summer. And, am fortunate enough to volunteer at a local Jazz & Blues club. So, have caught some great contemporary Blues talents, like Eddie C. Campbell (from Chigago), Larry Garner (from Baton Rouge, Louisiana), Anne Rabson - 1 of the founding members of Saffire-The Uppity Blues Women (from Virginia),Jackie Payne & Steve Edmonson (from CA...m-m-m, some great vintage Blues, there!) & among many others, George "Mojo" Buford, Muddy's harmonica player for years. Also, looking forward to seeing/hearing Jody Williams, in early Oct.. Like Robt. Johnson, he also started out playing harmonica...in the streetcorner band, of Elas McDaniel, later to become known as Bo Diddley. He's been away from the business, for years, after becoming very disillusioned with the songwriting end of it, in the '60's. He decided to make a comeback, in 2000, & apparently, he's still got it all, & I do mean all!! Oughta be a great 2 nights...well, 1 awesome night,(Oct. 4th) then another fairly awesome 1(Oct. 5th.)
