I think it should be pointed out that Irvine was in contention for the championship title right up until the last race. Various gaffs by the Ferrari team during pit stops didn't help Irvine's chances, but he still managed to finish the championship in second place ... a mere two points behind Mika.
The footnotes are wrong as far as I can see.
Footnote 1 labels Hakkinen as "The Sleeping Finn," when infact he is referred to as "The Flying Finn."
The correct spelling of Stewart in Footnote 2 is ermmm ... Stewart!
