And I have to work. 
It's worse than when I was cabbing. At least then I could enjoy other people's party moods, now I'm at home staring at dogs. Who will no doubt be farting and snoring while I'm wondering why there's nothing on telly.
Mind you, the dogs won't tell if I have a sneaky tipple from time to time. 
So far, one wedding reception I can't make. One engagement/housewarming I can't make.
Possibly might make a sort of ex-work get-together as it's midweek, but knowing my luck I won't.

One of the very few drawbacks about working for yourself is that there's no-one to have an office/works party with

There is that, but there's the ex-works party, the work party with the dog trainer I have links with, the party for the greyhound 'club' I'm in, etc. So I get more invites than working for just one company.
Still can't go to many of them though.
