Posted Jan 18, 2006 by Thought I should change my name back to 'Mina' to avoid confusion I've mentioned in the entry that if children hold big dogs they should let go if they run off because it's better to lose the dog than have your child hurt if it falls over and gets dragged.
When I wrote that I was thinking of in woodland, or in the park, which is why I mentioned wildlife. I thought an adult might need a hand when clearing up the obvious, or needs to tie a shoelace, or wants to get to their water. Don't let a child that weighs less than your dog hold it near a road in case it causes an accident, even if it is important that you nip into the post office. Even adults can be pulled off-balance by a big dog, so a kid it happens to has no chance - if they let the dog go it could cause a road traffic accident. If they don't let go, anything could happen.
Be sensible. And have fun with your dog!
