So now I know something about Discordia. I've often wondered about this, after seeing references to it during my web travels (and pre-web stuff) but never got round to reading the principia.
Thanks for enlightening us Reverend'id'

Have you ever read a book by Kurt Vonnegut called "Cat's Cradle"...? It's about how one man uses a religion called Bokononism to come to terms with the end of the world after a mishap with a chemical that changes the properties of water (making it freeze at a temperature above body temperature).

The whole premise of Bokononism is that all religions are lies. Bokononism sets itself apart because it admits this, and admits to the fact that it's just a prettier set of lies.

If you want your religion to differ from bokononism, I suggest you never reveal that it has been invented ad hoc. It has to be the one true religion (and always was, even before people knew what a number nine pin was).

Have fun.

Well, to be honest, it wasn't so much "invented" in a bowling alley as re-discovered in a bowling alley. It was at just that that was the place Eris chose to reveal Herself to us.

So neener.

So yeah, great little description and whatnot Revvy Id; glad to see that The Word of Eris is making it's rounds in one fashion or another. But I was mildly disappointed to see so much omitted about Discordianism. No mention of Guerilla Surrealism, no mention of the major cabal-type-groupings like P.O.E.E., no mention of the Five Great Apostles, none of the juicy stuff. Sure Discordianism may or may not have been "invented" (much like North America was "discovered" perhaps?) in the a bowling alley in the 50s, but that doesn't leave the possibility of so much of the religion's rich and ancient history being shared in some fashion or another.

You just mentioned them.

So neener.

Everything in its time.

I'm much to busy being a guerilla surrealist to talk about being one. There are many resources out there for people, once they get a taste of Discord. The taste of Discord is of course the taste of coffee from a STYROFOAM cup.

To paraphrase The Matrix, there is no cup.
