I tend to doodle from right to left, up to down because I'm left-handed and don't like the ink to rub on the backside of my pinky finger and leave ink stains.
I would disagree with the conclusion I'd draw based on what was provided in the essay on the location of the doodling. I wonder if that was taken into consideration with the geographical analysis.
