Wow! What a triffic piece of writing this is. Impeccably researched, readably written, and chock-full of really interesting if not fascinating details. Can we please have more from this contributor?

Walter ... my cup runneth over! More may indeed be on the way. I have been promising one on Charlemagne for some time which could be imminent.

But what of some of your own? I hear that you are well-versed in everything from the Roman Republic to Elizabeth I. A little of your wisdom please?
