Posted Aug 10, 2002 by Gordon, Ringer of Bells, Keeper of Postal Codes and Maps No One Can Re-fold Properly If you need to very quickly calculate pi to a few decimal places, you can use 22/7 to two significant decimal places.

Posted Aug 29, 2002 by Sir Doug Another fine approximation can be obtain by taking the first three odd digits and doubling them, like so: 1 1 3 3 5 5 Then, put the last three over the first: 355 / 113 This gives 3.14159..., six accurate decimals of pi.

Posted Sep 12, 2002 by Uncle Ghengis I always use the mnemonic "how I wish I could remember pi" - counting the number of digits in each word gives: "3 1 4 1 5 8 2".
