Millenium bug missing? or..

Rumour has it the reason the Millenium bug never fully kicked in was because of a drunken binge. Reliable sources report that the "bug" was seen passed out in an alley after a wild Millenium street party, after having consumed one beer too many. When he/she/it woke up, it was the 5th of Jan 2000 and he/she/it had a too massive headache to care...

Another theory sugests that a large number of IT Professionals spent most of 1999 re-writing code, installing upgrades and fixes and generaly not getting a lot of sleep to ensure that your telephone bill did not include all calls made from your house from the beginning of time. As this is not very likely, the rumour about the drunken binge seems more likely to be true.

Shame the programmes hadn't been thought through in advance, then we wouldn't have needed to rely on alcohol to save our skins
