I was wondering if you had any thoughts on the correct protocol for failing to recognise a celebrity? As a recent arrivee in London, I am constantly on the receiving end of "an inaudible whisper or barely-disguised pointing" and causing great concern by failing to appreciate the ramifications of being in the same room as starlets such as Billy Piper - perhaps a list of local celebs would be useful?

Simply follow the procedure again, with more of an emphasis on the "nonchalant attitude - as if you are in the company of such people all the time". This can be enhanced by giving the gesticulating individual/s a look of distain that conveys the accusation that they are not always in the company of such people and that their actions are highly inappropriate. Exept if you are on the Tube (London Underground)In which case the appropriate protocol is to look in a direction that no other person is. The desired effect is to have 150 people in an extreemly small space, totally ignoring one another. Whatever happens, even if your face is pointing directly in to someones armpit.
