Entry: Muse - the Band - A12982331
Author: AlexAshman (3rd year medical student + h2g2 Scout / SubEditor) - U566116

An update for A4044944 including an up to date history, Muse's new album Black Holes and Revelations, and an updated discography. Also, I've moved the Further Information links into the <REFERENCES> section in line with current EG style.

In the introductory paragraph, shouldn't "four albums" be updated to "five albums"? smiley

Can't comment on the Black Holes and Revelations section, I'm afraid, because I haven't heard it yet. I must remedy this...

Well spotted ok cheers

I reckon the first half of the album is brilliant, as is the last track, but there's some ordinary stuff on there as well.

Any more comments? It'd be good to get this in place fairly soon as it's in a pretty good state as it is smiley

Great job as ever, Alex. biggrin I remember commenting on this some time ago, but it must have been somewhere else.

Anyway, a few very minor points, feel free to ignore!

When you talk about their small-scale gigging before becoming famous, any chance you could tell us what telse they were doing? School, college, jobs?

"Muse were discovered in 1995 by Dennis Smith" - who is he?

"Muse were taken on by Taste Media" -> I think this would sound better as "Muse signed a record deal with Taste Media"

"The year ended with Muse being nominated for Best New Act at the Brit Awards, but didn't win." -> "But they didn't win"

"having played over sixty gigs that year, and selling 1.3 million copies5." Copies of what?

"Soon after recording began for Muse's next album, Absolution, war broke out in the Gulf with the USA and UK invading Iraq." Maybe it would be simpler to just say "The Gulf War began soon after recording started for Muse's next album, Absolution,"

"The single 'Time is Running Out' came inside the top ten in the UK singles charts," Maybe this would be better as "The single 'Time is Running Out' reached the top ten in the UK singles charts£

"when Absolution was released after a large European tour, it managed to successfully top the album chart." This is quite petty, but it sounds a little odd to me that an object can "manage2 to do anything. winkeye

"While playing at a concert in Atlanta, Matt somehow managed to cut his mouth, and ended up requiring stitches. Later on in that year, Chris (the bassist) damaged his wrist, but once again the tour continued," This makes it sound a little like there was doubt that it would continue after the mouth injury, but you don't mention anything.

"At the end of 2004, the band had won several more rewards" -> "awards"

I haven't heard the new album yet either, but it's definately on my to-buy list! musicalnote

Ok, I've changed them all cheers except for the "selling 1.3 million copies5" - the "5" gives away why... smiley

Alex cheers
