What's your metaphor for h2g2? No drifting!

No drifting! Who am I kidding when the collective noun for hootizens is "a drift".

So... what's your metaphor for h2g2? A pub? A student bar? A playground? An encyclopaedia? The Rough Guide? A small town?

One word answers and a brief explanation. No drifting! (Yeah. Right).

You're going to be outnumbering the nighthoover threads if you're not careful...

'A magazine office' (nearly one word)- a place where people are supposed to be writing interesting articles on a given subject, but often get side tracked into taking about the subject amongst themselves instead.

The word I keep coming back to, and trying not to repeat (because even I think it sounds bloody stupid) is home.

I'm probably thinking more about Personal Spaces than the site itself. I normally try to avoid metaphors for the site, because I don't like them, although I did mention a pub the other day.

What if I live in the UK and don't understand it...

Actually, Ive thought some more.

It's still a Village. It has idiots, No 6s, leafy byways and drunken yobbos.

It also has a beach, which leads to a tendency to longshore drift.
