Posted Jul 2, 2004 by daddude2001 Interesting read. I enjoyed it very much. My Mother (79yrs old) is from Hoy although she has lived in the south of England for most of her married life. My father was stationed at Lyness on Hoy just after WW2 where they met and married. Dad worked as a naval Steward in Melsetter house for Admiral Lord Harwood, and my mum was a cook.

Hello flyingtwinkle The plan was that the British Navy would requisition the German fleet and use it themselves, thereby increasing Britain's naval strength even more. Who knows what might have happened as a result? I doubt it would have prevented WW2 - and who knows, it might have hastened it because Germany would have been feeling even more hard-done-by?
