| Posted Apr 14, 2001 by Dax I´m really into dreams and all that stuff, so unless people on h2g2 just never sleep, I would really like to hear from you...
The wierdest dream I´ve ever had (at least that I can remember and in the not so distant past) was when I dreamed I was an actual Vampire and I in the dream sucked blood from people and made them vampires also I just chaked up to an overload of Buffy and Angel episodes and moved on... However it was really quite alarming, especially since I actually enjoyed being evil, if only for a short moment, I thought it was fun...
So let´s hear it, is any one else brave enough to share their wierd and disturbing dreams... Or am I really the only one with a sick and twinsted dreamworld like this???

Posted Apr 15, 2001 by xyroth If you think that is wierd, try dreaming the future, repeatedly, and then spotting it come true! That makes you really think after the first time or two.

Posted Apr 15, 2001 by Helium Bandit My god, i hope that doesn't happen. I've had some pretty scary dreams....
One that was really wierd (but not too scary) was this: I was sitting in Irish class, on my own, for some reason, when a man - a completely featureless man of the type you get in dreams - walked in and handed me a letter. It said something like, 'stop messing around and get on with it,' and was signed 'Ben Elton.' Now, just so you understand, I don't know Ben Elton, nor do i even like him very much. Furthermore, I have never corresponded with him. That's all that happened, I don't recall if i did 'get on with it,' or even what 'it' was.
Actually, that probably wasn't very interesting.

Posted Apr 15, 2001 by Dax Actually Xyroth, I have dreamt the future and wachted it come true many times, but I have learned to live with it by now. And usually I can tell which dreams will come true and which one are just non-sense.
But the future spotting thing... It´s just a matter of learning to accept your power and not letting it creap you out...

Well the strangest dream that i ever had was a recent one. In the begining of the dream i was alone o a beach just walking along, the a tad predictably a gril approached me, she started to talk to me, then it started getting strange, she but her hand to her face and removed it. There was another girls face on the same girl body. Then i was chased through people's back garden by men with guns. I have no idea why they were chasing me, as they got closer to me, i began to lift slowly and gently off the floor evadeing them. I hovered above them and was not hit by their guns shots.
I must really get out more, after actually re-reading this i may just make an appointment with the head doctors.

Posted Apr 15, 2001 by xyroth I do accept the future prediction. however i was only a school kid at the time that it started, and finding out that my mother did the same trick surprised the life out of me.

Posted Apr 16, 2001 by Dax Understanderble... freaked me out in the beginning as well... But not so much any more. I mean, it not like it´s every single dream I have that comes true...
Tonight for instance, I remember having a dream about Seven of Nine fra Star Trek Voyager. I can´t really remember the details, but it was just complete nonsense. (And by the way for those who don´t know yet, I´m female and I´m not gay, so don´t get any funny ideas )

Posted May 11, 2001 by Sick Bob. (Most recent incarnation of the Dark Lord Cyclops. Still lord and master of the Anti Squirrel League and Keeper of c Oh God! You lot do not even know about the wierd dream conversations that I've had with my firends. They have ALL had dreams that would make these look normal (this is kinda coincidental that we all know each other too. Scary) One thing that intersts me is that not all of the dream is sensory. You don't just dream sights and sounds but you dream thoughts, memories and explanations that just don't make sense in the real world. For example, I have included I dream that I had a few years ago when I was still in school. You will never beleive that this actually happened but you'll just have to take my word for it.
I was walking down a lane that I usually walk down after school towards the train station I take to go home. Somehow I knew that I was 21 years old even though I looked the same and was even still wearing a school uniform. I knew that the woman and child who were with me were my wife and son even though she was quite obviously Jennifer Aniston and him Harry from the Safeway adverts (does anyone remember him?) I also knew that we were going on holiday to Florida. Why we were taking a local train there I don't know but it seemed to make sense. As the train pulled away I suddenly remembered that this was the wrong train and that it went to Glasgow Central when the train for Florida was on the other side of the platform (it actually goes to Neilston in real life.) I panicked wondering how to get off the train and onto the other one. This fear was hieghtened when the conductor came out. It wouldn't have been as frightening if the conductor wasn't Boba Fett from Star Wars! (with the ticket machine replacing the rocket backpack!) He then asked for my ticket and, when I said I was on the wrong train, said that we must be executed. Forgeting my wife and son I dove from the train and landed on a grassy area outside the local scout hall (no trains for miles.) Somehow Jenni and Harry had also escaped and were beside me. They seemed to believe that we had arrived in Florida and proceeded to set up a picnic even though it was clear that Boba Fett had jetpacked (where did that come from?) from the train and was heading towards us. I tried to warn her but she ignored me and kept trying to hand me sandwiches. I ran as fast as I could pursued by the bounty hunter cum tricket collector. I circled the building innumerous times untill he eventually slid down a hill. I took my chance and ran toawrds the pinic where an electirc fence was slowly rising out the ground. Somehow I knew that if I jumped the fence before it got too high I could picnic in peace with my family and that Mr Fett could not get me. However the fence was rising fast and Boba was stating to pull himslef out of the ditch. I ran as fast as I could and dived for the fence just as I heard a gunshot. I woke up terrified never knowing if I made it or not.
And you think that you need psychological help? If anyone can possibly explain any of this I will be very interested.

Posted May 14, 2001 by xyroth That sounds like a classic example of dream logic, which comes from the indexing of new information that happens when you dream. what is happening is that all sorts of things that are vaguely similar to the stuff you encountered today are compared with it, in various combinations, resulting in things like boba fett the ticket collector. The only unusual thing about this dream is the amount of detail you have managed to remember.

Posted May 14, 2001 by farntfar I once dreamt I was a tree. It was a very slow moving dream. I nursed a slight dislike of squirrels and woodpeckers. This is not a joke. I genuinely did feel that I was a tree and rather unusually I could see in several directions at once. Thank goodness I was asleep or I think I would have fallen over.

Posted May 17, 2001 by loonafish I dreamed that a horse was chasing my Dad round and round the dining room and me and my Mum were hiding under the table! It's the only time I've ever woken myself up from laughing.
Does anyone else find that they dream more in one place than another? I have the most complex, surreal dreams when I'm at home but hardly dream at all when I'm at university. Or if I do dream I don't remember it.

Posted May 18, 2001 by Rebecca H I used to have this recurring dream (still get it occasionally when I get really stressed) that I was being chased by someone who looked like the joker from Batman (for some reason I'm always about 12 in this dream even tho' I'm now 27!), but he was dressed in a skin tight suit made up of little squares of various shades of purple. He was always chasing me and trying to kill me, but at some point, I would always stop, turn around and then cut him up into 1 inch squares with a machete (!?!) then put him in a giant jar with a screw top lid, then put the jar in a cupboard in my mum's kitchen (which was painted blue). He always managed to get out, put himself back together and start chasing me again.
It still freaks me out even now!

Posted May 18, 2001 by Kirsteen (less than original, but its the only name I have) This must have been years ago, but I was talking about it recently. I was 8 at the time, so forgive me if the details are a bit hazy (to the say the least).
I was in the flyover to go swimming. It was (still is, I suppose) one of those plastic ones you can see out to the road from. There were little air vents in the side. Anyway I knew there was a plague in the flyover. Who knows what kind of plague ( ), or what it did. And I was terrified of it. There were two girls from school there with me. I can't even remember their names now. And we couldn't escape, but it seemed kind of pointless seeing as we'd been infected anyway.
I'm sure there was probably more to it, like interesting things happening. But that's what I remember, from 12 years ago it's not bad I suppose.
Actually, it's not very weird at all. Maybe my most memorable dream then.
And on the dreaming the future note - my parents said that I dreamed my school was full of red the night it burned down. And I was 60 miles away.

Posted May 19, 2001 by Emily 'Twa Bui' Ultramarine I have too many weird dreams, most of which ought to be taken with a pinch of salt since they're side effects of medication . But here's a recent example:
I was involved in a school drama competition, which for some reason was taking place in a large building resembling a town hall. I was listening to a BBC audio tape whilst walking home, and for some reason was inspired to create a play with a distinct air of the brothers Grimm to it; I appeared as a giant talking frog who moved in next door to a couple and their young son (The wife was played by my biology teacher, for some reason). I had peeling yellow wallpaper on the staircases, I remember, which I wanted to remove and repaint before inviting my neighbours round. I remember having a stash of Penguin chocolate bars on top of the freezer in the basement. Well, ultimately, I didn't remove the wallpaper, invited the neighbours round to dinner, and ended up scaring the son (literally) to death by enclosing him inside a cardboard box filled with several damp frogs. Oh, and my biology teacher started screaming and looked distinctly green. At the end of the dream, though, I was playing the part of Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady"...

Posted May 19, 2001 by Zaphod II: alchemically treated with "tickety-boo" tea Dear Helium Bandit. Interesting dream, as all dreams are.I'm not going to say that you sound full of hot air but if I were you (and being in school is a lesson) I'd write down and post that letter (perhaps to yourself). I never consider dreams as weird, it just seems that way to our usual upperworld/dayworld consciousness. The Egyptians had it right, everything in the afterlife is by nature upside down or as our friends the alchemists remind usdream (soul) work is a work against nature, it strips us of our pretensions and sophistications. The Egyptians believed the spirit departed via the feet. Which brings me nicely on to my most potent dream. A death dream. Image: Standing with bare feet on wriggling fish (fish being symbolic of vital life in the unconscious. Want anymore chat give me a call sometime.

Posted May 19, 2001 by Zaphod II: alchemically treated with "tickety-boo" tea don't make an appointment with the trick cyclist just yet. Why do I get the feeling that the guys chasing you with the guns are trying to say something important. It's the dayworld ego that freaks out, taking all the images too literally. In the dreamworld, the value system is very different. Perhaps instead of running away, try confronting your pursuers, ask what they want, and dream the dream on as Jung would say.

Posted May 19, 2001 by Zaphod II: alchemically treated with "tickety-boo" tea Yours was a very interesting dream indeed. Your assailant looks very sinister (and from the future as well). I suggest not trying to explain the dream. Experience it instead. Work the dream. Write down your associations (with glasgow, train, etc, paint the image of that dark character, Life is taking u in a different direction it seems, and u r resisting change. (easy for me to say). In those immortal words "feel the force," "go with the flow" and don't worry, but you will need to work on it. I guess you've made a good start by sharing it with others. One last word. Don't let anyone tell u what it means. That is certain to kill the dream, an heroic fantasy (remember what hercules did in the underworld). Hope this is helpful. So long and encore la reve.
