Does anyone else find it infuriating when all the sports take over? I mean like, you get Wimbledon, and the football, and then the Olympics, and the rugby, and the F1 Grand Prix, and whatever else might be on. Fair enough, everyone has different tastes and I'd never expect people to never show sports just coz it's not my thing. But why do we have to have sports on practically every channel? You flick through sometimes and the only options are 2 football matches, a rugby match and some 1930s film on the other channel.

Celebrity divorces
Celebrity deaths
Royal marriages, divorces, and deaths
Political scandals and deaths
Certainly these things are worthy of mention during the news shows, but why are they allowed to permeate other times of the day? Are we really so sadly disfunctional that we feel the need to be submerged in otherwise natural events?
Perhaps natural disasters are worthy of expanded coverage, but it's not normally within a body's power to do something when they are dozens of K away or more!
At least election coverage forces people to be somewhat aware of changes that will directly affect them!

Yeah, it's bonkers!
And you'd think with digital and Sky and all those extra channels we have now, we'd be able to confine all the maddness to sports channels, or news channels and all that. Even put Big Bro and X-Factor and all those onto a reality tv channel or something.
Oh I wish I could be in charge of tv listing for a while.

The golf went into extra time so everything was delayed 20 mins - okay if you only wanted to watch BBC programmes that evening but if like me you wanted to watch BBC from 9pm to 10pm then watch another channel's progam that started at 10pm you were stuck.
I was not actually watching the golf so I don't know if they still had the after game chat? Okay match into extra time but once it is concluded - CUT! The celeb's can have their little chat but there is no need to broadcast it.
I recall a time when I did want to watch the programme following the sporting event and it ran into extra time. But the match itself finished within the alloted broadcast time. Did they show the next programme on time - No. They broadcast 30 mins of celebs talking about it. WHY? if people had just watched the game then they knew what had happened and if they didn't that's their fault they should have been concentrating.
The following may upset some but please follow the logic. Michael Jackson died; report the fact that he is dead and the circumstances. End of chat - anyone that is interested in Mr Jackson will know about his life etc etc etc. There is no need to re hash it in a news programme, his history is not NEWS it is HISTORY! They can slot in a tribute programme at a later time replacing one or two of the repeats.

Think I'm with you on the sports running on (especially if the game itself ends on time) and some of the stuff they show when someone dies. It can be crazy that they don't just report on it and maybe show their best known film or whatever, but they show the funeral/memorial service on 3 channels, compile "life and times" shows, show all their pop videos and every interview they've ever done, and then they show it all again just in case we missed it.
